I appreciate your input! I'm working hard to educate myself as much as possible with the effects tea has on our health. It's interesting to note that a lot of information on the Internet is old news - some articles go back as far as 2002. Thank you for pointing me to your article!

I actually really like the taste of calendula petals when blended with tea. I think it is an under-utilized ingredient in blends...it goes well with a number of different teas and imparts a unique and pleasing quality to the tea.

I would recommend to try it out, for anyone who has not yet done so!

There is definitely some evidence of anti-microbial effects both of tea and of other herbs which are commonly used in herbal blends. But this is not necessarily the same as antioxidant activity.

I think there's a lot of hype and sometimes misinformation surrounding antioxidants. Some time ago I put together an article on antioxidants in tea and in the course of researching it, I was surprised to find that antioxidants are not always beneficial...they're the same chemicals that are responsible for the way tea can interfere with iron absorption. So like everything, too much of a good thing can send the body out of balance.

I think it's good to cite studies...I'd make sure to include information so that someone can actually find the original study though...it can be hard to find a study with just the researcher's name and institution...usually a journal, article title, and date are helpful.

I've also read about L-theanine...it seems fascinating. I like that you're sharing this sort of stuff. I think that by engaging in more public dialogue in blogs and on the web, we can help to cut through some of the hype and promotional language and sort out which of the supposed health benefits of tea are backed by solid science and which are more marketing or speculation.

I am really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one nowadays..
